Hello everyone, we hope you are all having a wonderful day!

It’s a lovely winter morning here at the lodge. The Christmas lights are twinkling, the heating is keeping us warm, and it’s raining outside, creating lovely patterns on the lake out the window. ❄️

We are always so grateful to be able to spend our lives in such a beautiful setting. The lodge is decked out in all its Christmas finery, we have a fireplace on the television, and its the perfect time to sit down and write a new blog article ⛄

Today we answer ten of your questions From the pinned post on our Lodge Guys Facebook group! .If you’ve got another burning question about the lodge or our adventures, feel free to drop it in the comments below or on our Facebook group. We’re always happy to hear from you!”

Todays Ten Questions

Question one 1️⃣

Louise Kitchin – I’m watching some older vlogs and came across the vlog when you decided to stop daily vlogging. It’s been a little while now I was wondering do you feel like you have got a bit of work/life balance back or do you still feel as busy as ever?

Answer: Looking back, I don’t know how we managed to daily vlog for over two years. Every single day. It does become part of your life and you get used to holding a camera throughout the day. It has lots of positives (as does non-daily vlogging). It makes you think of interesting things to do daily so you have content to film and edit.

Although lots of people say they are happy to just see us hanging out around the lodge. We always feel like we need to film something interesting and make each video about a certain topic or activity.

We knew we had to produce a video every day so we had our daily routine of filming as much as possible throughout the day. We developed a knack for making everyday things seem interesting with music and different shots. We still feel busy tbh with the vlogs.

We split our work/days out. I (Leigh) look after YouTube and social media, the blog, etc while Nick looks after other work we do which we keep private and off-camera (whilst also building a van). In that sense, it was a big relief to be able to get some work-life balance back. It’s hard to do anything for yourself when you are filming your day every day.

The YouTube and social media side of our lives started as a hobby and we never thought it would become a full-time thing. It became harder to run a business and then run the YouTube channel which also started to feel like a business when it became almost full-time. It’s a very full-on, time-demanding job but also a very rewarding and positive (mainly) thing to be able to call your job.

We had our own business anyway but to grow a hobby from scratch into a full-time thing is a huge achievement.

You know how we love the community that has come around because of our channel. It’s so lovely. Anyway, I digress.

For us, when we moved down to three videos a week, that was the perfect balance. We filmed so much in the USA in March this year that we decided to go back to four a week as we had so many backed up.

If one day we go back to three a week then I think we will both be happy with that.

Question two 2️⃣

Andrew Wisker – You have probably been asked this before but would you want to visit the other 4, Disney parks in Tokyo, Shanghai, and Hong Kong?

Answer: Yes one day! We would love to try all the parks at some point but to be honest, it’s not on the horizon at the moment.

We have other places we want to explore in the Van in 2024 before we look at going to any other Disney parks.

We have decided not to renew our Disney World annual passes for next year. We will probably go at some point but not as many times as we have in the past.

Now we have Taylor the van we want to get out exploring with her and use her as much as possible. 🚙

Question three 3️⃣

Paula Dowling – Hi guys, which travel money card would you recommend, is it worth using one or just taking cash, thanks

Answer: We tend not to take much cash at all when we go to the USA. We have a few dollars but we mainly use our travel card.

We currently use Curve card. We can link our Virgin Atlantic card to it which means we can still earn points while we are in the USA.

Question four 4️⃣

Kathy Heat Kozma – If you could live somewhere other than England where would it be?

Answer: It would probably be somewhere like Spain or Portugal. Somewhere not too far from home so we can get a quick flight back but far enough away to have a warm winter.

The cold winters are the worst thing about living in the UK as anyone who lives here will know.

The dark nights for a few months last far too long. Would be lovely to spend winter in a warmer climate.

We have no plans to move away from England though. It’s nice to go and explore but always nice to get back home.

Question five 5️⃣

Gary Train – What’s your secret for staying together for so long and looking so young.

Answer: We are very open and honest with each other. If something is bothering one of us then we will talk to the other about it. Point out if some part of our relationship needs working on, if something is annoying us etc.

Communication is always key.

Some couples hit a hard time and bail at the first sign of trouble. We have been through our ups and downs but always find a way to talk through it.

We air our problems and work them out. These kinds of conversations aren’t always pretty but they usually result in a better understanding and a much happier relationship.

Anyone who has been together for as long as we have will know, relationships take work. You have to work at them.

We make each other laugh every day, if you can’t laugh with each other (and at each other) then I think you may as well give up. Humour has to play a part in a relationship.

From the very start of our relationship, we both felt we just “got” each other. We know each other better than we know ourselves.

We are each other’s best friend, therapist, husband, work partner, business partner, and whatever else you can think of.

We argue, we squable, we laugh, we call each other names, we help each other out, we get bored of each other, we love each other, we spend our days together, we sometimes want to be as far from each other as we can.

It all makes for an adventure we are happy to be on every day

As for looking young = Good filters! 😅

Question six 6️⃣

Pam Maiden – Hi Nick and Leigh love you guys. Best thing on TV! My question is- do you ever see or socialise with other Orlando vloggers?

Answer: We don’t really socialise all that much with Orlando / Disney vloggers.

We meet the Bazzas as you probably know, Lisa and Ade we meet up when we can

The Disney wives have recently started vlogging. We have been socialising with them for several years now.

Although we love to go to Florida and Disney, the majority of our vlogs are outside Disney so we don’t really tend to get to know many Disney vloggers.

Question seven 7️⃣

Barry Lynch (Who?) – Bucket list holiday destination for you both

Answer: Nick’s number one bucket list place at the moment is Jackson Hole Wyoming.

We randomly started watching a live stream from this place a while back. It looks so peaceful and calming and full of charm.

It looks particularly amazing at Christmas time.

We watched the livestream with Nicks’s mum in the Hospice. We would all sit, mesmerised by it (along with the staff nurses), and would talk about what it would be like to one day go and visit

So it now has even more meaning to it. We often take a look at the webcam to see what’s happening and if they have had snow.

I went to my number one bucket destination this year. New York (Thanks to you Bazza for inviting us along on your trip)

My other bucket list item was to see the Pyramids in Egypt which we did twice in the 2000’s. I think I would choose Amsterdam now, I have always fancied going and still never got around to it. It is on our list to visit in the van next year so fingers crossed it won’t be long until I’ve ticked that off the list.

Question eight 8️⃣

Sean Marshall – Hi Nick and Leigh, would you like to adopt me, and then I can come on holiday with you lol. Seriously. I love your vlogs but do you mind if people recognise you in the street etc and ask for photos or a chat?

Answer: No, we love it. Always love having a chat with people who watch our videos.

As a YouTuber, you spend a lot of time on your own or with whoever you film with. Doing this as a job, you don’t always see other people much outside your daily filming.

So it’s great to meet people on the other side of the camera. Everyone so far has been lovely and kind. We have met some viewers of our channel who have gone on to become very good friends.

The community that has come with our channel is something we never expected. It’s been lovely to see it develop and grow.

Question nine 9️⃣

Laura Millward – If you could pick the lodge up and move it to anywhere in the world, where would it be? X

Answer: Nick has a dream of buying some land in the middle of the countryside and moving the lodge there. No idea where, it’s just a dream he has.

In lockdown, we would go on many walks in the countryside and spot many places where he would say “I’d love to move the lodge there”.

In reality, I can’t ever see that happening. One, because we don’t have any land, and two because I’m sure it would be a job and a half to move the lodge somewhere different. (but as with anything, you never know)

Me, well. I’d probably only ever want to move if it was somewhere equally as beautiful as the lodge setting but where we could live full-time, residentially. So we didn’t have to have the apartment also.

I’m not sure where, I love living near the coast. It’s so much less hectic here than in the city. We love that there are no rush hour queues of traffic and mountains of people.

Question ten🔟

Sarah Callaghan – which has been your favourite Orlando trip and why? which month has been the nicest to go in? for me, it’s not July, as it’s blooming BAKING

Answer: Each trip we have is special for different reasons. I think the most memorable one for us will always be our March 2019 trip.

It’s when we discovered Florida as just two adults, without a group of people. The freedom that gave us and of course, it was the first time we had been with an annual pass.

Being able to nip in and out of the parks as much as we wanted changed the way we did Disney.

We discovered so many new things to us on that trip. We felt like it was the first time we had been to Florida even though we had been many times before.

We drank the world on that trip and ate at Disney restaurants and it was the first time we really got to see the beauty of the Disney community as we gained a lot of subscribers on that trip who also loved Disney.

We hope you enjoyed reading those answers. Thank you to everyone who has left a question and don’t forget, if you want to leave a question of your own then head over to our Facebook Group and check out the pinned post on there.

We hope you have having a fantastic December and a lovely Christmas season 🎄

See on on the next vlog

We have been watching your vlogs for about 2 years and are very impressed with the content and style.
Our question is, would you ever consider visiting Lanzarote again or even taking your campervan there? We love the island and would love to see you travelling there and visiting the many lovely tucked away places, away from the tourist hot spots.
Secondly, would you ever consider visiting Windsor and the surrounding area? We live in Buckinghamshire.
