How to Watch Disney’s Magic Kingdom Fireworks for Free (Without a Park Ticket)

If you love Disney fireworks, but don’t want to pay for a park ticket, you’re in luck. There are many places outside the Magic Kingdom where you can enjoy the show for free, and some of them even have the music from the show piped in.

In this blog post, we will share with you some of the best places to watch the Magic Kingdom fireworks outside the park, and how to get there.

If you have watched our vlogs for a few years, you will know we have seen the fireworks many times inside Magic Kingdom. Sometimes, even if you have a park ticket, it makes a change to watch the show from a different location.

Lets take a look at a few alternative locations to being on main street.

The Beach at the Polynesian Resort

This is a classic spot to watch the fireworks from a distance, with a clear view of Cinderella Castle and the music playing on the speakers. You can also enjoy the ambiance of the resort and its tropical theme.

To get there, you can either drive to the resort and park, you will usually need a reservation at one of the eateries inside the Polynesian, or take the monorail from the Transportation and Ticket Center (TTC).

The Fourth Floor of the Contemporary Resort

This is a free observation deck that is open to both resort guests and non-resort guests unless it is reserved for a private event.

You can see the fireworks from a high angle and hear the music as well. You can also access some exterior stairwells for a higher view.

You will need to get to the Contemporary resort so again, maybe book something to eat at one of the bars or restaurants or get Disney transport.

The Boat from Wilderness Lodge

This is a unique way to watch the fireworks from the water, as you take the free boat that ferries people to and from the Magic Kingdom. You can stay on the boat as it takes you back to the Wilderness Lodge, and enjoy the same view as the paying private cruise guests.

You will have to get the timing right and you will need to get to the Wilderness lodge, again by having a reservation at one of the eating places inside the Wilderness lodge.

Behind Magic Kingdom

We knew that New Year’s Eve would be very busy in the park so even though we had an annual pass to get in, we decided to give it a miss and watch the fireworks from outside the parks. We drove down Reams Road at the back of Magic Kingdom.

On the right of that road is a petrol station and pizza place. There are several places to park without charge where you can wait and get a very good view of the fireworks.

Bonus, you can get Pizza to eat in your car at the same time.

This is probably the closest you can get without being in the park. You won’t get to hear the music from the show though.

Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa

Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa offers various locations to enjoy the fireworks at Magic Kingdom. You can have cocktails at the Enchanted Rose Lounge on the second floor, with a few tables providing a view of the fireworks.

Reserving a dinner spot at Narcoossee’s overlooking the Seven Seas Lagoon also offers a chance to enjoy the fireworks from select tables or the restaurant’s wraparound deck.

And you will enjoy one of the best places in our opinion to eat in Disney World. We loved our meal at Narcoossees (The best pork chop ever!)

Additionally, the Marina at the rear of the resort provides a view of the nighttime spectacular but you will need to get to the resort first if you don’t have a booking at a restaurant.

Disney Restaurants with Fireworks Views

You can enjoy Disney fireworks views from these restaurants with reservations required.

  • California Grill at Disney’s Contemporary
  • Narcoossee’s at Disney’s Grand Floridian
  • Toledo at Disney’s Coronado Springs (Epcot and Hollywood Studios Fireworks)
  • Topolino’s Terrace at Disney’s Riviera Resort (Epcot Fireworks)
  • illume at JW Marriott Bonnet Creek (Epcot and Magic Kingdom Fireworks)
  • Stir Lounge at Swan Reserve (Epcot fireworks)
  • Ohana, located at the Polynesian Village Resort, provides a great vantage point for the fireworks. The restaurant features tall windows and offers an all-you-can-eat experience. Guests can enjoy the fireworks alongside the music, which is played through the restaurant’s sound system

We hope this helps you with a few places to watch the Magic Kingdom fireworks, even if you have a park ticket, you may just want to experience them from a different perspective.
