Where to get music for YouTube videos

Hi all

We’ve had a few people ask about the music we use in our videos, so we thought we’d share the details in a quick blog post

Youtube Audio Library

We first started out by using free music from the YouTube Audio Library. The music and songs serve as decent background music occasionally, but we’ve since transitioned away from using them. However, if you’re looking to avoid spending money on music, it’s still available as an option, and they also provide sound effects for use

Epidemic Sound

Epidemic Sound was our first paid music service. A popular choice among YouTubers, it boasts a massive library of over 40,000 tracks and 90,000 sound effects. The platform’s user-friendly search function has helped us create hundreds of videos with their music

Pricing starts from £9.99 a month. Click on this link to check out Epidemic Sound

MusicBed

We discovered Musicbed after hearing their music in some travel vlogs we loved. It’s a premium music licensing platform with a higher price tag – starting at $29 a month – but the quality is exceptional. We prefer to use Musicbed whenever possible because we feel the music really elevates our vlogs

Musicbed’s search function isn’t as efficient as Epidemic Sound or Uppbeat. Finding the perfect track can be time-consuming, but it’s worth the effort. The platform also requires creating individual projects and licensing each song separately, which can be a hassle, especially when working on tight deadlines. Despite these drawbacks, the high-quality music makes it a worthwhile investment.

Uppbeat

Uppbeat is a newer addition to our music arsenal. We discovered it last September thanks to another YouTuber. We love the music selection and the affordable prices. The free plan offers three downloads a month, but for unlimited access, the premium plan is just £6.99

Uppbeat’s search function is fantastic, and they even have an AI playlist generator. If you’re struggling to find the right music, just describe the scene you’re editing, and the AI will suggest some tracks

Uppbeat’s premium plan also lets you safelist up to three YouTube channels, making it incredible value for money. We highly recommend Uppbeat to anyone starting out on YouTube
