Magic Kingdom’s Best Kept Secret: A Pirate’s Adventure
We’ve all been there. Magic Kingdom is absolutely rammed, the wait times for the big mountains are soaring, and you’re looking for something to do that doesn’t involve standing in a ninety-minute line. Well, have you heard about A Pirate’s Adventure ~ Treasures of the Seven Seas?
If you’ve walked through Adventureland, you’ve probably seen people waving their MagicBands at crates or looking intently at large paper maps. It’s one of those “hidden in plain sight” experiences that so many people walk right past, but it is a proper hidden gem.

What Exactly Is It?
Think of it as an interactive scavenger hunt that turns the entirety of Adventureland into your own personal playground. You aren’t just looking for things; you’re actually triggering physical effects in the park.
By using your MagicBand or a physical “talisman” card they provide, you can make:
- Hidden cannons fire across the walkway.
- Skeletons emerge from the shadows.
- Secret treasure chests pop open right in front of you.
It’s brilliant because it makes you feel like you’ve got a bit of “inside” access to the park’s secrets.

Getting Started: The Crow’s Nest
To kick off your quest, you need to find The Crow’s Nest. It’s a small, slightly tucked away building located between the Pirates of the Caribbean attraction and Pecos Bill Tall Tale Inn and Café. Just head inside, and the Cast Members will get you set up with your very first treasure map.
The Best Part? It’s Free!
In a place where almost everything seems to cost an extra few dollars these days, this experience is completely FREE. It’s included with your park admission, making it a fantastic way to add some extra magic to your day without spending a cent.

Missions and Timing
There are five different missions in total, each following a different storyline.
- Time Commitment: Each mission takes roughly 15 to 20 minutes.
- Flexibility: The best part is that you can stop and start whenever you like. If your Lightning Lane window opens up halfway through a map, just go ride! Your progress is saved, and you can pick up right where you left off later in the day.
The Loot: Collectible Souvenirs
Disney hasn’t forgotten the treasure! When you finish a map, you head back to the Crow’s Nest to collect a physical souvenir card. These are really well-made and make for a great memento to take home.
Pro Tip: If you’re a completionist and manage to finish all five missions, you’ll earn a special “completion” card signed by Captain Jack Sparrow himself.

Is It Just For Kids?
Absolutely not! We’ve seen plenty of adults having a go, including us. It’s a great way to slow down and notice all the incredible details the Imagineers tucked into the land that you’d normally just walk right past. Whether you’re competing against your friends or just want a break from the crowds, it’s a brilliant way to spend an hour.
Next time you’re in Adventureland, don’t just rush for the Pirates queue. Grab a map and see what secrets you can find!
